With the 2012 A5 unveiled, Australia also has a new range high-performance sport variants, like the S5 Coupe, Cabriolet and Sportback, deliveries set to begin in December 2011. The bad news is that the A5 and S5 will arrive in Australia in 2012. The new 2012 Audi A5 range features a brand new 1.8 L TFSI petrol engine generating 167 HP and 320 Nm of torque. The fuel consumption is relative low, just 5.7 L of fuel per 100 km, thanks to the Start/Stop system - which comes as standard on all engines.

The price of progress in the Audi A1 1.6 TDI falls even further from this week as an even more fuel efficient version of the frugal premium sub-compact hatchback shrugs off road tax and the London congestion charge through a lower 99g/km CO2 output. Improved 74.3mpg economy potential, and unchanged OTR prices for the SE, Sport and S line models ranging from £14,480 to £17,865, also help to make the thriftiest A1 an even more desirable proposition.

Even lighter, even more powerful, even more captivating: The Audi R8 GT Spyder delivers breathtaking performance. The open-top flagship version of the high-performance sports car develops 412 kW (560 hp) and – thanks to Audi ultra – has trimmed a full 85 kilograms (187.39 lb) from an already low weight. The R8 GT Spyder accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 317 km/h (196.97 mph).
