Written by MotorImpress

2011 KIA OptimaSold as "Magentis" in overseas markets, the new 2011 Kia Optima has been revealed by KIA, following a series of illustrations published late last month. 2011 KIA Optima is expected to run with the help of the same engine offered with the i45, and Hyundai's new direct-injected 2.4 L GDI 4-cylinder engine, mated with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. KIA officials says that a diesel may be offered, using Hyundai's 2.0 L R-series turbo-diesel engine.

The new 2.0 R-series turbo-diesel, which also features in the new ix35 and the upcoming Kia Sportage, produces 135kW at 4000rpm and a huge 392Nm of torque from 1800rpm to 2500rpm.Kia Australia has yet to confirm if it will offer the new Optima in the local market, but without a large sedan in its current line-up, the new model is likely to hold some serious appeal for the up-and-coming Korean carmaker.
