The new RenaultFluence will arive in Australia in the final quarter of 2010. Measuring 4.62 M long, 1.81 wide and 1.48 tall, the RenaultFluence wheelbase has only 2.7 M, making it, for comparision sake, 2 cm longer and wider than a Holden Cruze. Since last november, the RenaultFluence has been on sale in Romania, Russia and Turkey. The main factory is in Turkey, but the production will expand in Korea, under a partnership between Renault and Samsung.
Rudi Koenig, Renault Australia Managing Director : "The new sedan will be a Renault; it just won’t come out of France. It will be a brand new product and it won’t be called a Mégane because we want to differentiate – because the sourcing will be different – between the hatch and sedan as far as production goes. It will be a very strong product."
It's assumed that RenaultFluence will be launched just in one petrol engine, with a choice of either a manual or CVT transmissions, and will get the largest and powerful 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine, producing almost 140 horse power.
Mr. Rudi Koenig said between lines that Renault is interested to use the dual clutch transmission when the diesel version will appear.
"We’ve been looking at what production options there are for Renault given Renault’s globalisation over the last few years. That’s going to enable us to bring product in at a better price position to make us more competitive. That’s one of our aims with our new Mégane range, especially with the hatch and the new small sedan.", he added.
The new RenaultFluence is expected to be launched later this year.
