 Hot on the heels of the recently launched GTC, these are the first official pics of the new Astra VXR, which goes on sale next year and is set to become one of the most powerful cars in its class and the fastest production Astra in Vauxhall’s history. Based on the GTC’s platform and powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection engine, the Astra VXR produces 280hp of power and a mighty 400Nm of torque, enough for it to achieve a top speed of 155mph. But while the Astra VXR is based on the new GTC, it has benefited from a raft of bespoke chassis modifications, transforming it into a focused, high-performance coupe. Setting it apart from all other current Astras is a specially developed mechanical limited slip differential, which works on the front wheels. In conjunction with the GTC’s sophisticated HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut), the LSD provides the Astra VXR with exceptional lateral grip and traction through bends.

 Vauxhall has released the entry-level prices for the new Zafira Tourer. With 1.200 GBP cheaper than the it's key rival (Ford S-Max), Zafira Tourer has a price tag of just 21.000 GBP. Air conditioning, DAB, cruise control, mp3/aux in connections, six airbags, seven-speaker audio system, active headrests and Flex7 seating - all these comes as standard. The Zafira Tourer will be positioned above the current Zafira model in Vauxhall’s line-up and is set to raise the bar for design, luxury, flexibility and innovation in the MPV sector. The production car’s design has deviated very little from the Geneva concept, illustrating design-chief, Mark Adams’ continued influence on the look of all new Vauxhall products, and reinforcing his ‘Sculptural artistry meets technical precision’ mantra.

 With more than 2 month ahead of of it's official world premiere at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Opel will make a surprise by unveiling the new Astra GTC at Goodwood Festival. The news was released today, at the same time Opel announced that the orders for the GTC are now open in United Kingdom with full pricing and specs.

 Although Vauxhall Zafira model Tourer Concept will make its world debut on March 1 at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the first images already appeared. Mark Adams, Vauxhall’s Vice President of Design:
"We have transferred the idea of a relaxing lounge to a vehicle and created an automobile oasis, a place to relax and enjoy. The Zafira Tourer Concept’s exterior design also makes a bold statement with its sleek, flowing lines and premium feel".
